Prerequisites:

  • Minimum Age: 10 years old.
    Note: Divers aged 10–14 earn a "Junior Open Water" certification, which comes with shallower depth limits and requires diving with a parent, guardian, or PADI Professional.
  • It automatically upgrades to a standard certification at age 15.
  • You must fill out a standard Diver Medical Questionnaire. If you answer "Yes" to conditions like asthma, heart issues, or certain medications, a physician must sign off certifying you are fit to dive.
  • The Baseline Water-Skills Test: Early in the course, your instructor will have you complete two non-negotiable swim tests (no time limit, any stroke allowed)
  • 200-meter continuous swim with no swim aids OR a 300-meter swim using a mask, snorkel, and fins.

Open Water Diver

Beginner Level

Open Water Diver

Take your first step into the underwater world and become a certified Open Water Diver. This internationally recognized course is designed for beginners with little or no diving experience and provides the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to explore the underwater world safely and independently.
During the course, you will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive planning, equipment use, underwater communication, buoyancy control, safety procedures, and environmental awareness. Training consists of knowledge development, confined water skill practice, and open water dives in a natural environment.
Under the guidance of a professional instructor, you'll master essential diving skills while discovering the beauty and excitement of the underwater world. Upon successful completion, you will earn a certification that allows you to dive with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet), anywhere in the world, subject to local regulations.
